A statement from Phoenix Chairman, Tony Crowder, after the club's relegation from Step Four was confirmed.

When I arrived at Phoenix, the club was facing an incredibly difficult challenge. Bottom of the league with just one point from 12 games, we knew we faced a huge task to stay in the Isthmian South East League.
The mountain has proved just too steep to climb and, despite everyone’s efforts, following today’s defeat at Eastbourne Town, our relegation to Step Five has been confirmed. After all the work that’s gone into maintaining our Step Four status, it’s a bitter pill to swallow, but I’m proud of the effort shown by everyone at the club since I arrived.
We’re sorry that it wasn’t quite enough.
Our ambition is simple: to bounce back at the first attempt and return Phoenix Sports to Step Four. That work has already begun. We are committed to building a team that reflects the values of this club, hardworking, honest, and proud to wear the green shirt.
We will be holding a full review of the season in the coming weeks, and Darren and his team will continue to fight for as many points as possible between now and the final whistle to ensure we finish as strongly as we can.
There will be more challenges ahead, and promotion from any division is extremely difficult, but now is the time to review, regroup, and rebuild.
This setback has only made us more determined to get it right.
Thank you for your continued support.
Tony Crowder
Chairman,
Phoenix Sports Club
