Phoenix in FA Vase first round action on Saturday evening

Phoenix are on the road this weekend as they travel to Ascot for their FA Vase First Round Proper tie against Berks County FC on Saturday evening (6.30pm).
Jake Goodman’s side go into the game with plenty of confidence having lost just once in their last six matches.
Following what was arguably their best performance of the season in their last league game (a superb 3–1 away victory at Fisher), Goodman made six changes at the weekend as his side were knocked out of the Kent Senior Trophy by Bearsted.
Defeat on Saturday put an end to Goodman’s unbeaten start as full-time manager but hasn't ended the growing feeling of momentum within the squad.
Since his appointment, assisted by first team coach James Marrs, Phoenix have produced a string of strong performances across league and cup competitions - including victories over Hythe, Fisher and Sporting Bengal in the previous round of the Vase.
Saturday’s opponents, Berks County, currently sit in 9th place in the Combined Counties League Division One having lost their last two games. Their home form has been improved of late The Swords will pose a tough test on home turf at the Racecourse Ground. Phoenix will be determined to continue their recent run and book their place in the Second Round Proper.
With an evening kick-off under the lights and plenty to play for, Goodman’s men will be eager to keep their momentum rolling on the national stage.

The closest public transport is Ascot Train Station which is a 20 minute walk away, The ground is not on a bus route but there is a large car park with marked disabled spaces.
