MATCH PREVIEW: BURGESS HILL TOWN VS PHOENIX

Following a battling draw with Ashford United, Phoenix face a trip to third placed Burgess Hill Town on Saturday (3pm) as the battle for their great escape continues.


The point seven days ago extended Phoenix’s unbeaten run to four games but after leading twice ended up feeling and little like a missed opportunity for the Sports.


Littlehampton’s draw with Erith Town meant Phoenix stayed inside the relegation zone, two points behind their nearest rivals with a game in hand. It could hardly be closer as we head into a nail-biting last seven games of the season with Step Four survival on the line for Darren Anslow’s men.



TEAM NEWS

Phoenix have no fresh injury worries to contend with ahead of Saturday's clash Burgess Hill with Jamarie Brissett serving the last game of his suspension.


THE OPPOSITION

Burgess Hill currently sit 3rd in the table, safely in the play-off spots, 18 points ahead of 6th placed Beckenham Town. Despite Saturday’s 2-0 win over Herne Bay they’re not enjoying their best run of the season having only won two out of their last five games. They’ve spread their goals across the team with Ben Pope their top goalscorer with 10 goals so far this season. Their success. Has largely been built on a brilliant back four having only conceded 33 goals in 35 games.


HEAD-TO-HEAD

When the two teams met in January, Phoenix fell to a 3-0 defeat, with Nathan Cooper scoring a first-half double at the Christopher Russell Stadium.
