Match Preview: Phoenix vs Larkfield & New Hythe
All the details ahead of Saturday's clash with Larkfield & New Hythe.
Phoenix Sports welcome Larkfield & New Hythe to the Christopher Russell Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a 3pm kick-off in the SCEFL Premier Division.
Jake Goodman’s side will be looking to make it three league wins in a row after beating Rusthall 3-0 at home last Saturday and Erith & Belvedere 3-2 away on Wednesday night. Phoenix had to play much of the second half at Erith with ten men, but a Khayrie Harris hat-trick helped Phoenix secure all three points.
Phoenix won this fixture 4-0 last season with Paul Lee, Lyle Della Verde and Will Efambe all on the scoresheet, Phoenix also won the return fixture 2–1 at Larkfield in March.
Saturday’s visitors, managed by Tony Reid and Sian Fitzpatrick, have had a mixed start to the league campaign. They opened with a 3–2 win at Sutton Athletic and followed it with a 3–1 home victory over Tunbridge Wells, but then suffered four consecutive league defeats against Hollands & Blair, Kennington, SE Dons and Snodland Town.
Larkfield have since steadied themselves with three successive league draws, 1–1 away at Beckenham Town, 2-2 at home to Faversham Strike Force and 1–1 away at Petts Wood & Holmesdale last Saturday. They also progressed in the FA Vase with a 4–2 win at Balham, where Tobe Uzor scored a late hat-trick.
Saturday gives Phoenix another opportunity to build momentum in front of their home supporters. After a commanding display against Rusthall and a hard-fought win at Erith & Belvedere, Goodman’s side will hope to carry that momentum into the weekend.

By train: Barnehurst Station is just a 10-minute walk from the ground—this line runs regularly through Travelcard Zone 5
By bus: The 492 stops directly outside the ground
From central London: A direct Southeastern train from Charing Cross to Barnehurst takes around 40 minutes
There is parking in the school opposite the ground parking in the side streets that surround the ground. With a larger than usual attendance expected we're expecting it to be busier than usual.
