Phoenix Sports delivered an outstanding performance on Saturday afternoon, recording a comprehensive 4–0 victory away at Hythe Town.

Despite challenging, muddy conditions at Reachfields, the team showed composure and real attacking quality throughout.

Phoenix almost went ahead immediately when a slip from Hythe goalkeeper Dan Kennedy nearly gifted Tyller Davis-Whitlock an opening goal inside the first two minutes but the angle proved too tight for the forward and his shot hit the side netting.

Hythe’s best opportunity came midway through the first period, as Steadman Callender put in a cross from the right that found Kian Scott who headed down but the impressive Ryan McCourt was on hand to block.

After that Phoenix started to wrestle control away from Hythe and opened the scoring on the 35th minute.

A well-flighted free-kick from Louie Downey was met by Jake Goodman, who rose highest to guide an excellent header into the net against his former club, giving Phoenix a deserved lead.

After the interval, Phoenix responded calmly to a brief spell of Hythe pressure before taking command of the match in decisive fashion.

On 53 minutes, Jamarie Brissett capitalised on loose possession, rounded the goalkeeper and finished neatly to double the advantage.

Just two minutes later, Brissett struck again, driving through the Hythe defence and placing a composed finish beyond the keeper to make it 3–0.

From that point onward, Phoenix controlled proceedings with authority, managing the game effectively and limiting Hythe’s threat. Deep into stoppage time, Phoenix added a well-taken fourth goal as Tyrese Agbontaen placed a finish past Kennedy to put the final touch on what was an excellent team performance.

Next up for Phoenix is a trip to Stansfeld on Wednesday night as they look to progress in the third round of the SCEFL Challenge Cup.
