Phoenix Sports return to the Christopher Russell Stadium on Friday evening (7.45pm) when local rivals Beckenham Town visit for a SCEFL clash.
After a difficult opening few weeks of the campaign, Jake Goodman’s side will be determined to produce a response under the lights and secure their first victory of the season. Phoenix have had ten days to regroup following their defeat at Fisher and will hope that a return to home soil can provide the platform for an improved performance.
Taylor Fisher has made a bright individual start to the campaign, scoring three times in Phoenix’s opening four matches. The forward found the net against Petts Wood & Holmesdale and Sutton Common Rovers before scoring again at Fisher, and he will be looking to continue that form on Friday night.
Beckenham arrive in Barnehurst unbeaten in their opening two league fixtures. They began their campaign with a victory before drawing 1-1 with AFC Greenwich Borough, leaving them on four points. They also defeated Sutton Athletic 2-1 in the FA Vase but saw their FA Cup campaign come to an end last weekend following a 3-2 defeat at Camberley Town.
The two clubs know each other well, having met regularly in the Isthmian League in recent seasons before both returning to the SCEFL Premier Division. With local pride at stake and Phoenix eager to kick-start their season, Friday promises to be a fiercely contested derby under the lights at the Christopher Russell Stadium.

There is parking in the school opposite the ground parking in the side streets that surround the ground. With a larger than usual attendance expected we're expecting it to be busier than usual.
