Phoenix make short trip to Erith & Belvedere in penultimate match of season.

Phoenix Sports return to action on Friday night (7.45pm) with a local derby against Erith & Belvedere at Park View Road, looking to respond positively after a disappointing result last time out.
Jake Goodman’s side were beaten 3-2 by Faversham Strike Force in their previous outing, a defeat that effectively ended their hopes of reaching the SCEFL play-offs.
Despite being in strong form prior to that result, barring a miracle, the setback leaves Phoenix with too much ground to make up in the closing stages of the season.
That loss was a contrast to what had been an impressive run, with Phoenix winning six of their previous seven matches. During that spell, they showcased their attacking quality with emphatic victories over Rusthall, Hollands & Blair and Snodland Town, as well as a solid 3-1 win against Chislehurst Glebe.
While the play-off race is now out of reach, there is still plenty to play for. Friday’s fixture brings the added edge of a local derby, and Phoenix will be keen to finish the season strongly while claiming local bragging rights.
Team news sees Phoenix still without long-term absentee Harry Smart as he continues his recovery from knee surgery, while Jamarie Brissett serves the first of a three-match ban.
With two matches remaining, Phoenix will want to focus on ending the campaign on a high note starting with a win on Friday night.
