Phoenix kick-off their FA Cup campaign on Saturday
Phoenix Sports turn their attention to the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday afternoon (3pm) when they face Sutton Common Rovers in the Extra Preliminary Round.
The tie will be played at the War Memorial Sports Ground, where Sutton Common Rovers currently ground share with Carshalton Athletic.
Phoenix will be looking to respond positively following the disappointment of their opening-day defeat against Petts Wood & Holmesdale. Taylor Fisher and then Lee Bird gave Jake Goodman’s side the lead at the Christopher Russell Stadium, but the visitors fought back to secure the points with two late goals.
Phoenix will be hoping to improve on last year's exit against Leatherhead and Saturday’s fixture provides them with an opportunity to begin an exciting run in the world’s most famous domestic cup competition.
Phoenix will once again be without long-term absentees Joe Chalker, who remains sidelined with an ankle injury, and Harry Smart, who continues his recovery from a knee injury.
With a place in the Preliminary Round at stake, Goodman’s side will be hoping to produce a strong performance and ensure their name is in the hat for the next round

Should the scores be level after 90 minutes, the tie will go to a replay at the Christopher Russell Stadium on Tuesday 11 August, kicking off at 7.45pm.

Carshalton railway station is approximately five minutes’ walk from the ground, with direct services available from London Victoria. Supporters travelling by car can use the ground’s free off-street car park, although arriving at least 45 minutes before kick-off is recommended to secure a space.
